Insurance Commissioner Doubles Down on the Number of Special Agents to Investigate Insurance Fraud In North Carolina

Mike Causey, North Carolina insurance commissioner says: “Insurance fraud effects our economy. Not only does it damage insurance companies, it cheats business and consumers too. This kind of white-collar crime is unacceptable. That’s why I’ve doubled down on the number of special agents to investigate insurance fraud. Cracking down on fraud will put more money in the pockets of businesses and consumers”.

He informed that 35-year-old Dante Jamaal Blackwell was arrested because of car insurance fraud. Blackwell is accused of telling National General Insurance Company that his car is stolen. But someone who had access to his car used his vehicle at the time he knew.

The illegal act happened between Nov. 15, 2018 and Jan. 15, 2019 according to the arrest warrant from Caswell County authorities. They arrested Blackwell on September 9 and released under an unsecured bond of $5000.
