Atacama Resources (ACRL) Surges 250% in a Week: But Why?

The mining sector has been in focus for quite a while primarily due to the rise in the prices of many precious metals. One of the companies in the sector that emerged as a notable grainer last week was that of Atacama Resources.

The Atacama Resources International Inc (OTC: ACRL) stock ended the week with a growth of 250% and on Friday alone, it clocked gains of 22% as investors continued to pile on to the stock. Atacama has substantial mining interests in the Kirkland Lake region located in Northern Ontario and last week, it also made a key announcement. Last week, the company announced a slew of new appointments to its board.

Jon Dion was appointed as the CEO and chairman of the board, while Darwin Douglas and Joshua Dion were also added. Joshua Dion was also made the President of the company and on the other hand, William McKay was made the vice president of investor relations.
