Gaming Chromebooks Powered By AMD Picasso, Dali & Pollock APUs Will Bring Chrome OS Into The Gaming World

Soon enough, lucky low budget gamers might enjoy competitive online matches by just using Chrome OS that will support Steam app. Previously, it was revealed by androidpolice official website that Chrome OS developers are working to initiate gaming app Steam on Chromebooks with potential graphics fidelity such as AMD APUs and Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM chips. As everybody aware of Windows 10 OS is currently the dominant PC Steam gaming platform with little improved DirectX 12 (DX12) API over it’s DX11. Now, the definition of API is very simple, it’s just a mediator between hardware and software. In fact, open source Vulkan API did loads of good improvements to optimize Triple A game titles into a high frame rate smooth experience compared to DX12’s incremental updates. Twitter user Komachi_Ensaka firmly established that quad core SMT enabled Ryzen 7 3700C and Ryzen 5 3500C are found within the Chromium codes. Apart from that, dual core Ryzen 3 3250C, Athlon Gold 3150C and Silver 3050C APUs are also included into upcoming Chromebooks via driver source code. Yet, new AMD mysterious APU is found by codename Pollock under Athlon Dali APUs. It might be another low powered dual core Zen+ APU.

Additionally, 12nm Picasso, Dali and Pollock APUs for Chromebooks are using Zen2 vbios. Looks like the driver optimization for Chrome OS might go solid for the future. In graphics performance side, Picasso Ryzen 7 3700C supposed to have powerful RX Vega 10 iGPU and Ryzen 5 3500C should be paired with RX Vega 8 wonder iGPU. In real world benchmarks, RX Vega 10 & Vega 8 graphics performances are so amazing that latest Microsoft Surface also using them for premium business ultrabooks which are practically capable for competitive gaming experience such as Fortnite, PUBG Lite, Rocket League and CS:GO.
