At last, MSI is accepting the AMD hardware to it’s Gaming Laptop lineup. For over 7 years, AMD was not powering MSI laptops due to underwhelming mediocre Bulldozer FX microarchitecture processors and power hungry mobility Radeon GPUs. But this model Alpha 15 from MSI looks much more promising for mainstream gamers with efficient new AMD hardware featuring Ryzen 7 3750H APU 4 Core 8 Thread up to 4 GHz Turbo clock speed together with RX Vega 10 high performance integrated GPU for light gaming plus 1080p discrete gaming GPU RX 5500M based on new Navi 14 architecture.
Back in 2012, MSI introduced all in house AMD powered laptop GX60. The specs wise that laptop was decent with HD7970M GDDR5 GPU but only A10-4600M bulldozer based APU produced very poor performance compared to equally priced Intel’s Sandy Bridge CPUs like Core i7-2670QM or i5-2320M. Nevertheless, everyone is glad that AMD’s back to claim some laptop market share from Intel and Nvidia. Newly created 7nm Navi Mobile GPUs can give a very hard time to Nvidia’s gaming GPU dominance and upcoming Renoir APUs are also prepared to the battle against Intel’s Ice lake mobile CPUs.
