Regions Financial Stock Drops On Disappointing Quarterly Earnings

Regions Financial is an American financial company with a 22 billion market cap. Today, it published its fourth quarter and full-year, which is ended Dec. 31, 2021. Accordingly, today, it is not a particularly great time in the markets for Regions Financial shareholders as the company’s stock took a dive and fell sharply by as much as 6% as a consequence. Meanwhile, the results did not meet analysts’ expectations. Let’s start with net earnings for the fourth quarter of 2021, which amounted to $414 million per diluted share of $0.43.

Moreover, for the full year, the company reported a net profit of $2.4 billion and a record pre-tax income of $2.7 billion, over 2% higher than the previous year. As a result, total revenue came out at $1.6 billion, an increase of 1%. The company’s net interest income increased 6%, thus due to the acquisition of ENERBANK and the income from repayment under the Higher Salary Protection Program. And it was not the most enjoyable performance for investors. Currently, the price is open at $22.41.
