There is a silent but strong competition going on in improving lithium-ion batteries which are obviously backing the electric vehicle. One of the ambitiously striving tech companies, Amprius believes that carbon or graphite anode consisting of lithium-ion batteries has already reached its energy density limit. It already found a solution in silicon that is capable to store up to 10 times more lithium compared to graphite. But silicon swells dramatically when it is charged with lithium and that can cause it to crack and stop working.
In order to solve the current issue, Amprius came up with a silicon nanowire anode. Most certainly, this technology is driving NYSE: AMPX to trade above $10 today after doubling on over 25 million volume.
